How to salvage a tangled cosplay wig

Most people discard a cosplay wig when it has become damaged or tangled. This is unnecessarily wasteful, especially if a kanekalon wig is thrown away. So, let’s focus on methods of salvaging tangled cosplay wig made from high temperature fibers and kanekalon bellow.

First, let’s look at a tangled cosplay wig. Just as the photo shows, it’s rather jagged and fluffy. There are knots of about 10 centimeters away from the top.

It will be difficult to comb it without using some type of hair detangler. So, add a little hair detangler and grab a small section of the hair with your left hand. Use your right hand to comb the hair using a steel comb or an anti-static comb from tips to root.

Do not instantly, resort to using scissors, if you encounter a knot. First, run your fingers over the knot, attempt to smoothen it. If it becomes smooth, just pull it and comb it with a steel comb.

If it does not become smooth, use your fingers to quickly drag small knots to the tips. The knots should be as small as possible. Then, cut at the middle of each knot; don’t pull the hair once cut. Use steel combs to comb it once again until all cut knots are pulled from the wig and adhere to the steel comb.

When encountering a group of, do not use scissors because these knots will easily form while handling a wig. If you cut the wig frequently, the wig will have less depth. Instead, separate the smooth hair to one side of the wig and the group of knots to the other side of the wig. Then, comb the wig upwards, about 10 centimeters above the knot several times, using some force until the knot combs smoothly.

Repeat above two steps as needed. In most cases, hair is tangled and has knots, however you can deal with these utilizing the above two steps. After removing all knots, wash the hair. Flush water while combing. Then, allow the wig to air dry.

If possible, use an electric hair flat iron, which is the only tool to smooth jagged end. Before clipping, comb several at times and hold the top of the wig with one hand to avoid it hanging freely. Grab small section of hair with the other hand and slowly flat iron the hair from roots to tip. Use a little force for a smoother look and to evenly distribute the heat.

And there you have it; a tangled cosplay wig made from high temperature fibers has been restored to the original shape.

This will create the finished look, the tips of the hair are no longer tangled and frizzy, instead you now have soft and silky, tangle-free hair. Spray a bit of hair detangler and store the hair into a hermetic bag until the hair detangler dries.

There are usually two main types of and knotting methods to attach hair to the wig cap, double knots and single knots.

Double knotting of the human hair wig is the most widely used technique in the current market. With double knots, the hair is attached securely to the cap and this avoids shedding. However, its disadvantage is that the knots are somewhat visible, so double knotted techniques are usually used on the top and back of the wig cap only.

For the front hair line area, single knots are more popular. Single knots are hard to detect because of its petite knot. However, as it is only one single hair knot, the hair is inevitably prone to to shedding. To combat this issue, we typically increase the density of the hair at the hairline to ensure there is adequate hair volume and create a more natural look.

Hair dancing in Peking Opera

Hair dancing is very popular in various types of opera dramas, especially the Peking opera.

Hair dancing, a classic movement involving whipping the hair, is often used to express various mental states such as anger, panic, insanity, despair, pain and struggle etc. Different hairstyles in the opera drama are created and beautified on the basis of ancient people’s dress and adornments. In the drama, Dan, Clean and Ugly are all wearing wigs with varying lengths of either 2 feet 2 inches or 1 foot 5 inches.

The following is the construction method of the hair used for hair dancing. Tie together a bunch of hair, fastening the tie about two inches from the hair tip. Attach the end of the hair to a round cap of about two and a half inches. Finally, makeup is applied and the completed wig is ready to be worn.

The most famous hair dancing artists are Wang Xiaonong and Zhou XinFang. For example, in one of Master Wang’s performances, he plays the role of Chongzhen Emperor, the last one in Ming Dynasty. During this time, the whole country is going to be conquered by Li Zicheng(the late Ming dynasty peasant uprising leader). Master Wang portrays most vividly Chongzhen Emperor’s desperate and panic mood by whipping the hair upright the head and sweeping it back to cover the face like an umbrella. Master Zhou’s best card is to combine the hair dancing with whisker whipping. When hair turns right, whiskers can be whipped towards left. Natural, unrestrained and skilled, we can acclaim it as the peak of perfection.

It is critical for hair dancing to be quick, neat and fluid. These three words are easy to say but hard to realize. Hair dancing differs from sword, spear, fan and peacock feathers. It is hard to balance the strength required to whip the hair. Ordinarily, It will be either dazzling or drifting with improper strength displayed. Actors primarily use the head and neck to control and adjust the hair. If an individual uses the hand to adjust the hair, he is not well skilled and the performance will not satisfy the audience.

The hair dancing is one of the most important dramatic movements with artistic aesthetic feeling. When I was a little girl, I attempted to tie a tower to my head to practice hair dancing because of curiosity, but I never succeeded. Gradually, I learned from Peking Opera the key is to rotate the head in one direction quickly and use the neck as an axel. Only in this way, can the hair be whipped excellently with the inertia effect. Common hair dancing include movements like whipping, raising, rushing, rotating, flashing etc., in many different directions such as left, right, forwards, backwards and round.

International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE)

The International Salon and Spa Expo is the most famous beauty show in west of the United States. It attracts millions of visitors each year from all over the world. But it is only available to licensed stylists, cosmetologist, teachers and students. ISSE offers hundreds of educations and competitions and also shares the latest trends with everyone at the same time.

There are two separated halls at ISSE. One is for hair products suppliers and another is for skin care products suppliers. The exhibitors are all top grade companies and have to be the member of the PBA. They are well known in the local market. Their networking with thousands of local salons and stylists make their business steadily increase over time.

Not like visitors at Cosmoprof North America Exhibition, most of the visitors are small salon owners and stylists. That means they are not very sensitive to price because their order amount would be at a low level. Compared with wholesalers, the stylists are more professional to the hair quality and colors.

The Best Selling Goods In 2013—The Intact Cuticle Hair Bulk

Remy or full Cuticle Hair means that the hair has all cuticles healthy, intact and all cuticles flow in the same direction from the root to the tip. Typically hair is of remy quality when it has been collected directly from a woman’s head and has been cut while held in a ponytail, so none of the hair strands fall to the floor. Because of the careful collection process, only Remy quality hair can guarantee that all cuticles will stay aligned and the hair will be tangle-free hair in its most natural form. True remy hair lasts for a long time, can be reused several times, and can be colored or flat ironed with heat just like one’s own natural hair.

In contrast, non-Remy or other hair types are made from hair collected from the floor of temples, salons and door-to-door brush hair collection. Due to these types of collection methods, cuticle directions are always mixed up, causing inevitable tangling problems. To minimize tangling problems, many vendors treat the hair with special chemicals to strip off the cuticles completely and then apply layers of silicone coating over it to bring back the sheen. Unfortunately, after such treatment the hair initially looks and feels good and it is difficult for consumers to detect if it is non-remy hair just by touching or feeling it.

Because it is so difficult to detect, many vendors unscrupulously labels this hair as remy hair and attract customer through aggressive pricing using ploys such as factory direct, wholesale, deep discount etc. However, after a few washes the silicone coating wears off and the hair feels very rough. Also, since the cuticles are stripped off, such hair is incapable of tolerate color treatment or heat. Such non-remy hair (often labeled as remy) is available at a significantly cheaper price point than real remy hair, but does not last beyond a few washes and cannot be reused at all.Virgin means that the hair is 100% natural human, true remy quality and has never been processed with chemicals or colors. Since, remy hair (also called virgin hair), retains all natural cuticles, it does not require any kind of additional processing to make it look beautiful. It is beautiful and tangle free in its most natural state and it is the best quality human hair available to hair extension lovers!

1. Selection of Raw Hair

Hairs of the highest quality are sourced from different areas. Natural hair is usually shaved from women’s head and tied as a single piece in different lengths. Hairs in different lengths and sizes are assorted, segregated and sold at different prices. Careful selection needs to be done to procure the right type of hair. Only our skilled technicians are under the responsibility of this process.

2. Arranging Hair & Hackling

The thickness percentage of the hair depends on the style and maintenance of the person who offers the hair. Some women prefer to have long hair and some have a mix of long and short hair.

By arranging the hair, we ensure that the head of the hair is even. It is further hackled to remove crude and unwanted short size hair before sending it for washing. The short hair and all unwanted hair are also removed in this process. The top and end of the hair should be arranged in the same direction only when it is remy hair. The different sizes are segregated before sent for washing. Hair loss in this process is between 5 – 10% of the total weight.

3. Washing & Coloring

The arranged hair is soaked in a solution of conditioners and detergents to remove the dirt, oil and other dust particles. The soaked hair is then washed in water several times until it is clean.

If the hair needs to be colored, skilled workers will use dyes or natural process to get the color that the customer requires. Colorful dyes can be made into thousands of colors by our coloring workers. Colored hair needs to be strictly checked to make sure. There is no difference with customers’ requirement.

4. Drying

Sunlight is essential for proper drying. Our sun dry the washed hair for several hours to make sure the hair becomes soft. During the rainy season, we may use the heater to dry. Though sun drying makes for almost 10 – 15% of weight loss after washing, it is easy to identify the texture of hair after proper drying.

5. Stocking

The dried hair is stocked in racks of different sizes for further process like wefting, hand-knotting, etc. These are also known as ready stock and this is what is available at any time. From this inventory, hair is selected for any other process. The total weight loss from the purchase of raw hair until this stage is around 30% or even more.

Lace Closure Application Guide
1. Regardless of whether you want to install a lace closure hair on sew-in or glue-in weaves, tracks will be needed for the weft of the closure.
2. Complete the process of sewing in or gluing in hair extensions to tracks or cornrow braids of natural hair.
3. Clean the skin around the outer edge of the hairline with rubbing alcohol.
4. Make sure that you leave a U-shaped portion of cornrow braids on the crown of your head. This is what you have to install the Swiss lace closure.
5. Apply a thin line of adhesive. Keep in mind that a little bit of adhesive is enough. Gently press it down until it is secured. Alternatively, you can use a dark colored sewing thread and C-shaped needle to attach the lace closure to the U-shaped section of tracks.

Different Types of Wigs Cap Construction

There are many ways for wigs to be constructed to cover the entire scalp. Different clients choose different types of wigs taking comfort, breathability and appearance into consideration. The main types of wig cap constructions are as follows:

Capless Cap, Traditional Cap, Lace Front Cap, Mono Crown Cap, Mono Top Cap/handtied, Full Lace Cap, Mono Top/Wefted Back, and Skin Top Cap.

Capless Cap and Traditional Cap belong to capless or machine-made cap, which is very common in synthetic wigs and has a relatively lower cost. Lace Front Cap, the popular cap construction in recent years, adopts front lace handtied workmanship and can achieve the effect of a natural hairline. The dimension of lace can be custom designed. The common type for the black has the dimension of 13″x3″ while 5″x1.5″ for the white. With more human labor involved in using the hand tied workmanship, the price is much higher than the capless cap and traditional cap.

Full Lace Cap,100% hand tied workmanship, can reach a more natural wearing appearance. The common types include full lace, full lace with elasticized net, ear to ear full lace with elasticized net. Since 100% hand tied, it needs a longer production period, usually fluctuating from 20 to 30 days.

Mono Top Cap is common in wigs for patients. Mono(monofilament) refers to a cap material similar to lace with smaller meshes and smooth surface. It is usually transparent skin color and mainly used on the top of head, which can create the illusion of hair growing from the scalp.
